Myrna M. Velasco is an award-winning Business Journalist and an author of specialized energy books. She writes for the Manila Bulletin and has also contributed articles to Forbes Philippines Magazine and Natural Gas World, a North American publication focusing on the global oil and gas industry.
Among the awards conferred her are the ASEAN-wide Green Technology Journalism Awards in Singapore; Henry Ford Journalism Awards (Best Feature Story); and Citibank Pan Pacific Journalism Awards (Philippines). She authored books on energy: “Surviving A Power Crisis: The Philippine Experience”; and the “Energy Guidebook For the Philippine Media”; and has co-authored a book chapter on: “Crafting Energy Policies With the Next Generation in Mind”; jointly published by the United Nations Children’s Fund (Unicef) and the Asian Institute of Journalism and Communications.
She’s also a speaker and has moderated various forums in energy conferences in the Philippines as well as in Vietnam and Indonesia; and a global fintech conference hosted by Singapore.
She has also done research works for various international institutions, including the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and currently working on a project with a United Nations organization.
